Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) is set to receive solar energy support in a bid to enhance service delivery and ensure uninterrupted power supply.
This announcement was made by Dr . Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije when he served as the chairman of the 2024 Annual Performance Review of the Hospital.
Hon. Vanderpuije disclosed that a team will visit hospital management next week to commence the provision of solar power systems to support the hospital’s energy needs.
This initiative is aimed at reducing the impact of power outages on critical healthcare services, particularly in high-dependency areas.
Delivering his remarks at the opening of the performance review, which was held under the theme “Comprehensive KBTH Performance Assessment Towards Value-Based Patient-Centred Care,” Hon. Vanderpuije called for a renewed commitment to delivering patient-focused, value-driven care as Ghana’s premier referral hospital continues its mission.
“There is a growing expectation from the people for us to deliver quality care,” he stated. “As a hospital, we must align ourselves with clear objectives and a focused vision to avoid the obstacles that may hinder our progress.”
He expressed optimism that this year’s review would not only celebrate the hospital’s milestones but also uncover opportunities for meaningful improvement. “Let us focus on what we can do better for Korle Bu. That should be our goal – overcoming challenges by strengthening our systems and services,” he urged.
Hon. Vanderpuije also lauded the efforts of healthcare professionals at KBTH, acknowledging their dedication in the face of systemic challenges. “Our healthcare workers are doing tremendous work, and it is only right that we, as a government and a people, rally behind them.”
Reaffirming his commitment to supporting the hospital, Hon. Vanderpuije concluded, “Korle Bu carries the hopes of many. I commend the hospital for the good work being done and assure you of my continued advocacy to ensure your needs are met in every possible way.”
