The Presidency has reiterated its commitment to holding accountable officials from the previous administration who allegedly pilfered state resources.
Mustapha Gbande, Deputy Director in charge of Operations at the Presidency, emphasized that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is resolute in its pursuit of justice.
“I am confident that President Mahama is unwavering in his commitment, and the party is solidly behind him to execute the mandate entrusted to us by Ghanaians, including prosecuting those who have plundered the nation’s coffers,” Gbande asserted.
Gbande cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that no individual, regardless of stature, would be exempt from the law.
He warned that even former President Akufo-Addo could face house arrest if deemed necessary. The Deputy Director emphasized that the NDC would adhere to the legal framework established by the NPP and advised them against protesting when the process unfolds.
In the forthcoming days, Gbande revealed that corruption and dubious deals concealed within ministries, departments, and agencies would be exposed. “In the next few days, you will witness ministries, departments, and agencies unearthing the entrenched rot and crooked deals that have been surreptitiously buried from public scrutiny and media attention,” he disclosed.
Gbande levied severe accusations against the former government, alleging widespread corruption and malfeasance.
He affirmed that legal action would be taken against those implicated, including former President Akufo-Addo. “I can assert with authority that they have pillaged the nation’s resources. President Akufo-Addo has overseen his appointees as they plundered the nation’s coffers. You will soon witness this, and those individuals will be held accountable by the laws of the land. Nana Akufo-Addo himself will not be spared,” Gbande declared. Expose Corruption, Hold Past Officials Accountable.
