A statement issued by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) said the meeting was part of President Mahama’s effort to reset and realign SOEs for greater efficiency and transparency.

The high-level meeting, being organised by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), will take place in Accra.

It will serve as a platform for President Mahama to outline his vision for SOEs as part of his broader strategy to strengthen economic governance and national development.

A key highlight of the event will be the launch of a deep-dive study on 16 major SOEs which control a significant portion of state assets, the SIGA statement indicated.

It said a study SIGA conducted is expected to offer valuable insights into the financial and operational performance of these enterprises and provide recommendations for reforms and transformation.

In a press release, the Director-General of SIGA, Prof. Michael Kpessa-Whyte said the initiative underscored the government’s commitment to corporate governance, accountability and efficiency within the public sector.

“We are excited to facilitate this important engagement between the President and CEOs of SOEs,” he said. “This meeting marks a significant step towards promoting good corporate governance, transparency and accountability in the management of state-owned enterprises. We are confident that the outcomes of this engagement will have a positive impact on Ghana’s economic development.”

The engagement will bring together senior government officials, ministers of state and officials from the World Bank in Ghana, highlighting the critical role of SOEs in driving Ghana’s economic recovery and transformation.

The discussions are expected to focus on enhancing the efficiency and profitability of SOEs, ensuring transparency and accountability in state enterprises, aligning SOE operations with national development goals and strengthening corporate governance structures.

SIGA has encouraged Ghanaians to take an interest in this important initiative and follow the proceedings as the outcomes will have far-reaching implications for the country’s economic future.
