The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has assured residents that President John Dramani Mahama is committed to finding a lasting solution to the ongoing sea erosion crisis by completing the coastal defense project, which he initiated during his first term but has remained abandoned for the past eight years.
The minister gave this assurance during a visit to the affected areas, where he sympathized with victims of the disaster.
Leading the Regional Security Committee, he also oversaw the distribution of relief items to those impacted by the tidal waves on Friday.
According to him, the team is closely monitoring the situation and assessing the severity of the tidal waves that struck on March 1, 2025, to determine whether relocating victims to safer areas is necessary.
Meanwhile, the Acting Regional NADMO Director, Pascal Agbagba, and his team have initiated plans to provide temporary shelter for affected residents in Agavedzi and Salakorpe.
