The National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign in Akwatia is gathering renewed energy as Hon. Junior JM and his team intensify their activities ahead of the crucial by-election. With just four days to go, the atmosphere in the constituency is charged with anticipation and determination.

Under the banner “Vote Lawyer for Better Akwatia”, the team has rolled out a vigorous mobilisation drive aimed at consolidating grassroots support and rallying voters behind the NDC parliamentary candidate, Lawyer Bernard Bediako Baidoo.

Junior JM, flanked by members of the NDC Green Army, will be leading spirited engagements with constituents, youth groups, and market women, urging them to stand firm with the NDC. His message has been one of unity, progress, and the party’s readiness to deliver on its promise of building “The Ghana We Want.”

“The people of Akwatia have a golden opportunity to make their voices heard and to choose leadership that reflects their hopes and aspirations,” Junior JM declared, stressing that a victory for Lawyer Bediako Baidoo is a victory for development, accountability, and a stronger democracy.

Together with Associate Ghana and the campaign team of Lawyer Bediako Baidoo, the Junior JM team will take over major streets in Akwatia in a massive walk and rally designed to energize the grassroots and demonstrate the NDC’s strength on the ground.

The by-election was necessitated by the sudden passing of the sitting MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi, on July 7, 2025, after a brief illness. His death created a constitutional vacancy, compelling the Electoral Commission to fix September 2, 2025, for the vote.

An earlier comment by NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, that the party was not pulling out of the election has further inspired the grassroots base of the NDC in the constituency to come out in their numbers and vote massively for Lawyer Bernard Bediako Baidoo.

The by-election has already drawn nationwide attention, with both major parties deploying heavyweights to secure the constituency. For the NDC, the presence of Junior JM and his team on the ground is a clear signal of the party’s determination to claim victory in Akwatia.

A recent poll conducted by political analyst Musah Dankwa projects the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Lawyer Bernard Bediako Baidoo, to secure victory with a commanding lead of over 6% ahead of his NPP contender.
