The closure, according to the Minister was to allow for investigations to ascertain the veracity of the suspected cases of corruption perpetratored by some individual(s) or collaborators.

However, describing the closure as too extreme, Nana Kwame Osafo Adjei in an interview suggested that the closure could have been done on department basis while allowing other departments to operate.

According to the Bosome Freho MP, Nana Kwame Osafo Adjei, the total closure was unfortunate and unacceptable suggesting that the Minister could have adopted an approach better than the total closure.

While describing the incidence as unfortunate, the Deputy Ranking Member clarified that his caucus was not against sanctioning perpetrators.

The Deputy Ranking Member believes that the action of the Minister to shutdown the embassy could be equated to shutting down Ghana in Washington which matter he warned the implications may be gravous hence measures to redeem Ghana’s image.

“We support the Minister to punish the collabotors but we still believe that the Minister could have shutdown the Visa application and passport processing to allow for some structural works but I disagree tha you shutdown the entire embassy.

It is like we wake up in the morning and they say they have shutdown the whole Ghana in Washington that is what the Minister has done so let no one say there is an office in New York, no, no”,the Bosome Freho legislator lamented.

While condemning the action, the legislator opposes the call for the minister’s resignation.
