The Member of Parliament (MP) for Salaga-South, Hon. Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has made a significant contribution to improving safety and livelihoods in her constituency with the donation of 200 streetlights.
The installation exercise, which has already commenced in the Salaga township, is expected to address long-standing concerns about poor lighting- an issue residents say has fueled rising insecurity and frequent accidents at night.
Speaking at the rollout, the Director of Special Projects in the Office of the MP, Mr. Mustapha Nafiu, explained that the initiative is part of the MP’s broader commitment to tackling community security challenges and creating an enabling environment for economic activity. He assured constituents that the project will be extended to other communities in the constituency in the coming weeks.
“This initiative is aimed at improving security, reducing crime, and making our streets safer for both residents and visitors,” he noted.
The gesture has been warmly welcomed by residents, who described it as timely and transformative. Many believe the improved lighting will not only reduce incidents of theft and road accidents but also encourage traders and small businesses to operate confidently after dark.
“This is something we have long been hoping for,” one resident remarked. “Now, we can feel safer moving around at night.”
This intervention adds to a series of development projects championed by the Salaga-South MP, who continues to prioritize infrastructure and social amenities that directly impact the daily lives of her constituents.
This is good initiative and is highly welcome and pray for such initiative. I think for the past two months we have seen a major improvement in our electricity current and some power stability, so far soo good 👍
