The Somè Traditional Council of Agbozume in the Ketu South Municipal Assembly has announced a new Burial and Funeral Policy effective October 1, 2025.
According to the council, the Burial/Funeral will take place only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in all communities in the Somè Traditional Area.

Torgbiga Adamah III, the Paramount Chief of the Somè Traditional Area at The 2025 Somètutu Za held on Saturday, September 2025, submitted that “Burial will be completed by 12noon, but the funeral will continue up to 5 p.m.” and, “A funeral levy of one hundred Cedis (GH₵100.00) will be collected from the bereaved family”.
Torgbiga warned that “the traditional council will monitor strictly the collection and use of the levy for the development of the communities”.
He notes, “Council intends to use the revenue accruing from this year’s festival to start an Administrative Block for the Council to enable it to facilitate its work”.
He, however, appealed to all– the general public and Somè citizens – to support the project.
Touching on Chieftaincy problems, Torgbiga said, “the main problem is along the coastal area where the implicit intrusion and activities of another traditional council are gradually fostering problems in Agavedzi, Adina, Xedzranawo, and Denu”.

Also, in the Somè Ʋego area, some claims by a rival traditional council over some communities are creating tension in some areas, such as Ativuta, Tackscorner, Worgbato, and Avata, as he appeals to all Somè citizens not to confront any such issues on their own – you should come to the Council Office with any such issue. “The Somè Traditional Council is working hard to find a solution to such problems. We will do it together”, he added.
