In a spirited ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance, the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams officially launched Ghana’s new initiative to rally support for the Black Stars’ upcoming journey to the FIFA World Cup. The event, attended by government officials, partners, media, and football fans, marks a significant step in fostering national unity and pride ahead of the global tournament.
Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko, Deputy Minister for Finance and Chairman of the World Cup Fundraising Committee, emphasized the importance of the initiative in connecting Ghanaians with their beloved national team. “This raffle is more than just a game; it’s a platform for Ghanaians to participate directly in the Black Stars’ World Cup journey,” he stated. Supporters can purchase tickets for a chance to win memorabilia, travel experiences, and even fully sponsored trips to the world cup.
The Sports Minister highlighted the broader significance of the World Cup beyond football its role as a global platform for economic visibility and national branding. Ghana aims to leverage this opportunity to promote tourism, showcase its culture, and boost local industries. “Participation in the World Cup presents an opportunity for Ghanaian brands and the creative sector to gain international exposure,” he noted.
Addressing concerns over trust and transparency, Hon. Adams assured the public that the raffle would be managed with strict oversight, involving reputable partners and mechanisms to ensure fairness and accountability. “Ghanaians must have confidence that their participation is credible, and that promises will be honored,” he affirmed.
Every ticket sold not only brings fans closer to the World Cup but also contributes to building a lasting sports legacy in Ghana.
Concluding his address, the Minister called on citizens, corporate partners, and football lovers to support the initiative and stand behind the Black Stars. “Let us carry Ghana proudly to the world,” he urged, adding that the launch signifies shared ownership of the national team’s success.
As Ghana prepares to make its mark on the world stage, this initiative aims to unite the nation in support of its heroes.
May the Black Stars shine brightly, and may Ghana’s pride soar high.
