Afenyo-Markin challenges Youth to take up Leadership roles

Osahen Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin has urged young Ghanaians to take up leadership roles and participate in governance, emphasizing that education should extend beyond the classroom and certificate.
Speaking at the Beyond the Degree Conference 2026 at Winneba the Minority Leader and MP for Effutu Afenyo-Markin highlighted the importance of youth leadership, governance, and civic engagement, citing Ghana’s young population as a demographic reality that demands energy, ideas, and engagement from young people.
Sharing his personal experinces and historical examples, including J.B. Danquah and Kwame Nkrumah, Afenyo-Markin illustrated that youth is not a limitation but a platform for impactful leadership.
Stressed the fact, the Minority Leader also mentioned the importance of youth leadership, governance, and civic engagement urging young Ghanaians to reject corruption, resist division, and embrace innovation as the pathway to building a prosperous nation.
He also used the occasion to champion the Young Commons Forum, a youth-focused initiative aimed at empowering students through leadership development, mentorship, and entrepreneurship promotion.
The forum has been launched at several universities, including the University of Cape Coast, University of Professional Studies, Accra, and University of Education, Winneba.
