The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Operations Deputy Chief Executive, Dr. Senanu Kwesi Djokoto in Winneba officially unveiled the “Change Ambassadors” to champion the propagation of the newest digital solution known as the National Health Insurance Scheme Electronic Health Facility Attendance Management System (NeHFAMS).
The “Change Ambassadors” are mandated to drive the One-Time Attendance Code (OTAC) and One-Time Password (OTP) digital platform designed to reduce fraud, eliminate illegal charges, and boost efficiency, targeting Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by 2030.
The NeHFAMS new digital platform objectives are to enhance a robust and secured fraud-free insured NHIS members authentication, usher in the proposed 120 percent increment of NHIS tariffs and support the impending implementation of the government’s flagship Free Primary Health Care (FPHC) policy.
Dr. Djokoto at the closing ceremony of the third batch training of trainers program tasked the “Change Ambassadors” and all staff to stay focused, dedicated and committed to the NHIA’s vision of pursuing excellence and restoring public confidence in the NHIS.
He advised the “Change Ambassadors” to educate their colleagues, credentialed service providers, NHIS members and the general public to ensure a collective buy-in of the NeHFAMS new digital solution.
He explained that the introduction of the OTAC/OTP digital platform is not to witch-hunt credentialed service providers but rather strengthen the NHIA and the service providers cordial relations to advance the NHIS usefulness.
He maintained that implementation of the OTAC/OTP platform is to solidify Executive Management’s zero tolerance for unauthorized charges at the provider sites.
He reaffirmed Executive Management’s commitment to expanding the NHIS coverage in fulfilment of the vision of providing financial risk protection against the cost of healthcare services to all residents in Ghana.
The Operations Deputy Chief Executive overwhelmingly commended all staff for their contribution to the Authority’s unprecedented achievement of over 20 million increment of the NHIS active membership in 2025.
He encouraged them to go the extra mile and upsurge the active membership by the end of 2026.
He congratulated Mr. Joe Annor Darkwah on his elevation as the MIS Acting Director and underscored the need for all-hands on deck to enable him deliver his mandate.
Dr. Djokoto has been at the forefront of the NeHFAMS nationwide training of trainers program.
Winneba training
Three hundred (300) selected staff from the Central, Eastern, Volta, Oti, Western and Greater Accra Regions attended the two-day intensive training program organized by the Management Information Systems (MIS) Directorate.
Similar exercises were held in Kumasi and Tamale and it is expected to be climaxed in Kumasi.
