In a push to rally national support for Ghana’s upcoming participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Hon Kofi Iddie Adam, Minister for Sports and Recreation delivered an inspiring keynote address at the official fundraising launch held in Accra.

The event was graced by President John Dramani Mahama, government officials, corporate leaders, celebrities, media representatives, and passionate football supporters.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Adams emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in managing resources for Ghana’s World Cup ambitions.

Recalling a pivotal moment when President Mahama underscored the heavy responsibility of rebuilding confidence in the country’s sports sector, the Minister reaffirmed his commitment to making the process transparent to foster trust and attract investment.

“Our goal is to mobilize support in a structured way that ensures visibility, accountability, and confidence,” the Minister said. “The FIFA World Cup remains the most powerful global platform in sport, with billions of viewers worldwide. Ghana, as a recognized football nation with a proud history, is well-positioned to make a significant impact.”

He highlighted Ghana’s strategic positioning in the tournament, noting that the Black Stars’ group stage fixtures, especially the match against England, will attract extensive international attention, providing prime exposure for brands and sponsors. “This is an opportunity for brands to connect with audiences across continents and for Ghana to showcase its talent and passion on the world stage,” he added.

To democratize participation, the government introduced the World Cup Raffle, allowing Ghanaians to contribute directly to the campaign fund while engaging in the excitement of supporting their national team. By dialing *899# or visiting ghworldcupraffle.com, individuals, families, and organizations can enter daily draws for a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to support the Black Stars for the world cup, along with other prizes like match tickets, jerseys, and airtime.

The Minister called on corporate Ghana to deepen its involvement, not just through sponsorship but also by encouraging internal engagement within their organizations. “When your staff participate, the collective impact is amplified,” he urged.

Expressing appreciation for President Mahama’s visible leadership during the campaign, the Minister praised his recent visit to the Black Stars’ training grounds, which boosted morale ahead of the qualifiers. “Your support matters deeply, and our players are preparing with focus and discipline to represent Ghana with pride,” he assured.

Just dial *899# or visiting ghworldcupraffle.com to support the Black Stars
