The Director of the Port of Tema, Tebon Zumah Esq., on Wednesday, 1st April 2026, welcomed a high-powered delegation from Burkina Faso, led by the Minister of State for Territorial Administration and Mobility, Émile Zerbo, to the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).
The visit formed part of Mr. Zerbo’s high-level diplomatic mission to Accra, aimed at streamlining transit operations through Ghana’s ports and strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and Burkina Faso.
Mr. Zerbo commended the management of GPHA for the efficient handling of transit cargo, as well as the modern infrastructure and systems in place. He emphasized that Ghana’s ports remain critical to Burkina Faso’s economic stability and regional trade connectivity.
He further expressed his commitment to working closely with GPHA to address challenges affecting transit trade and to enhance operational efficiency for the mutual benefit of both countries.
Mr. Zumah, who represented the Director-General of GPHA, Major General Paul Seidu-Tanye-Kulono, assured the delegation of the Authority’s readiness to take all necessary steps to resolve challenges faced by transit operators in the course of their business.
He also lauded the longstanding partnership between Burkina Faso traders and GPHA and called for deeper collaboration to further strengthen the relationship.
As part of the visit, the delegation toured the Port of Tema to gain first-hand insight into port operations, including a visit to the Kpone Unity Terminal.
