The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has welcomed a high-level delegation from Ethiopia for a five-day experience-sharing visit aimed at strengthening collaboration and advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) across Africa.

The visit, taking place from 20th to 24th April 2026, brings together policymakers and technical experts to exchange practical insights on health insurance operations, financing, and service delivery.

On behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, the delegation was received by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Operations, Dr. Senanu Kwesi Djokoto. He described the engagement as a reflection of growing Pan-African cooperation and emphasized the importance of open dialogue in achieving shared health goals.

Dr. Djokoto highlighted key features of Ghana’s National Health Insurance Scheme, including its broad benefit package covering over 95% of disease conditions and a network of approximately 7,000 credentialed healthcare providers nationwide.

He also noted ongoing efforts to expand access to care, particularly through the government’s Free Primary Health Care policy under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama.

Also addressing the delegation, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Human Resources and Administration, Ralph Segkpeb, underscored the mutual value of the visit, describing it as an opportunity for both countries to learn from each other’s experiences while strengthening bilateral relations.
