Hundreds of residents in the La Dadekotopon Constituency accessed free health screening today through an initiative led by Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah.
The exercise, held at Divine Healers Church near Ankpa Djama, was organized in collaboration with the La Dadekotopon Municipal Health Directorate and began at 8:00 AM.

The screening offered residents access to basic health checks, including blood pressure, blood sugar, and general wellness assessments, at no cost.
The initiative falls under Hon. Sowah’s broader commitment to preventive healthcare and early detection of non-communicable diseases in the constituency.
“Our health is our wealth,” Hon. Sowah said, reiterating that early screening can reduce the burden of preventable illnesses and improve quality of life.
Partnership with local health authorities:

Working with the La Dadekotopon Municipal Health Directorate ensured the exercise was staffed by qualified health professionals and aligned with municipal health priorities.
Organizers said the partnership helped reach residents who might otherwise delay or forgo routine check-ups due to cost or distance.
The event drew a strong turnout from community members across Dadekotopon, with health workers providing on-site counseling and referrals for those needing further medical attention.
A push for preventive care:
Hon. Sowah said the screening forms part of ongoing efforts to promote health awareness and wellness at the grassroots level. She noted that consistent engagement with health services is key to reducing pressure on Ghana’s health system and improving productivity.
The MP has previously championed health and sanitation initiatives in the constituency, aligning with the government’s focus on strengthening primary healthcare delivery.
In related development, the MP donated 10 street lights to the community, received by Hon. Abase Abafum, Assembly Member for Kowe Abese Electoral Area, and community members.
