The Minister for Trade Agribusines and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, on Monday 11th May, 2026 received envoys from the United Kingdom and China to discuss opportunities for boosting trade and investment.
The UK High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Christian Rogg, called on Minister Ofosu-Adjare ahead of the Ghana-UK Investment Summit, scheduled for June 1–2, 2026, in London.
The summit, themed “The Reset Agenda: Restoring Investor Confidence to Unlock Opportunities and Shared Prosperity,” will focus on trade, investment, infrastructure, and finance. It is expected to be attended by His Excellency Mr. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana.
High Commissioner Rogg emphasized the UK’s commitment to working closely with Ghanaian counterparts to ensure a successful summit that strengthens bilateral economic ties.
In a remark, Hon. Minister Ofosu-Adjare stated that the UK remains one of Ghana’s largest trading partners and urged UK companies to manufacture directly from Ghana.
She again shared plans to establish three garment factories this year(2026) to among others create jobs and wealth for Ghanaians.
The UK Investment Summit will also feature bilateral meetings, private sector engagements on the sidelines, and is expected to see the signing of potential growth partnership agreements.
The Trade Minister Ofosu-Adjare also received H.E. Ambassador Cong Song, the new Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, who introduced himself and discussed the implementation of the Chinese zero-tariff agreement.
Ambassador Song extended an invitation to the Hon. Minister to participate in the November 2026 Shanghai Import and Export Exhibition.
for her part, Hon. Minister Ofosu-Adjare, reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to deepening trade relations with China, stating, “This Ministry is going to be your home. China is very important to us. I will be traveling to China this Thursday to attract at least 20 investors into Ghana. Chinese companies should also consider sourcing more products from Ghana to help reduce the trade deficit.”
She further assured that the government would ensure effective implementation of the zero-tariff agreement.
