Why are our women still dying during childbirth after attending more than eight antenatal care visits?โ This was the pressing question raised by the Deputy Minister for Health, Hon. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, as she began a two-day Greater Accra Regional tour under the #MaternalMortalityActionandResponseProgram (MMARP).
Her first engagement was an internal briefing with the Greater Accra Regional Health Directorate, where she received an overview of the regionโs maternal mortality situation and led discussions on the factors driving preventable maternal deaths.
The meeting, attended by the Regional Director of Health Services, Representatives of development partners, Medical Directors and other Senior Health Officials, focused on reviewing performance, identifying critical gaps, and aligning strategies to strengthen the quality of maternal healthcare and save more mothersโ lives across the region.
