The Member of Parliament for Daffiama/Bussie/Issa, Dr. Sebastian Sandaare, has engaged more than 45 aspirants contesting various positions in the upcoming NDC constituency elections, urging them to maintain peace, unity and issue-based campaigning throughout the reorganization process.
The engagement, held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Fian, brought together aspirants seeking to become constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the elections expected to take place in October.
According to the MP, the meeting was organised to congratulate the aspirants for their decision to offer themselves for service, foster unity among the contestants and encourage them to work together for the success of the party.
The MP reminded the aspirants that the NDC is a democratic party where members have the opportunity to contest for positions, while delegates have the mandate to elect their preferred candidates in accordance with the party’s laid-down procedures.
He also stressed the importance of respecting the rules governing the elections and urged all aspirants to conduct their campaigns without insults, personal attacks or name-calling.
Instead, he encouraged them to focus on issues-based campaigns, explaining their vision and what they intend to contribute to the development of the party at the constituency and grassroots levels.
The MP further highlighted the crucial role of branch and constituency executives in strengthening the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He said branch executives would be expected to help bring new members into the party and expand its grassroots support, while constituency executives would play a key role in implementing directives from the regional and national leadership.
He therefore called on all contestants to put the interests of the NDC above personal ambitions and work towards building a united party capable of achieving its electoral objectives in 2028.
The MP congratulated all the aspirants for offering themselves to serve and wished them well as they prepare for the constituency elections.
The meeting forms part of efforts to promote unity and peaceful competition within the constituency as the NDC undertakes its internal reorganisation.
