A delegation from the School of Petroleum Studies of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Edmond Kombat Esq., to deliberate on practical ways of forging closer relations between the university and the refinery.
The delegation included Prof. Richard Amorin, Dean of the School of Petroleum Studies; Associate Professor Harrison Osei, Vice-Dean; Associate Professor Ohenewaa K. Dankwa, Head of Petroleum Geosciences and Engineering; and Dr. Ato Fanyin-Martin Head of University Training Coordination.

The conversation considered ways in which UMaT’s teaching and research could respond to the operational and business needs of the refinery, including preparing graduates with practical, industry-ready skills.
The delegation also toured the facility and observed the work done to rehabilitate the refinery and other upgrades under way on key assets. The visit resulted in a useful discussion on areas where the two institutions could collaborate.
