I held bilateral talks with General Abdourahamane Tchiani, President of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland and Head of State of Niger.
Our discussions focused on enhancing security cooperation in the Sahel and West African region to combat terrorism, improved and unimpeded trade between our two countries, and strengthening bilateral ties.
We also discussed the need for collaboration and recognition of the Alliance of Sahel States by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and a renewed commitment to fighting terrorism, which threatens not only the Sahel region but also countries further down towards the coast.
