Government revenue and grants for 2025 financial year projected at GH¢223.8 billion, presenting 17.2% of GDP

Government total Revenue and Grants for the year 2025 are projected at GH¢223.8 billion or 17.2% of GDP up from GH¢186.5 billion or 17.4% of GDP.

The projection is underpinned by non-oil revenue measures which are expected to yield at least 0.5 percent of GDP.  

According to the Minister, government total expenditures (Commitment) for 2025 have been programmed at GH¢269.1 billion (20.7% of GDP) down from GH¢279.2 billion (26.0% of GDP) in 2024. 

He stressed that the primary expenditure on a commitment basis (expenditures net of interest payments)—is projected at GH¢204.7 billion, representing 15.8% of GDP in 2025, a significant decline from GH¢232.4, representing 21.7% of GDP in 2024.

“Speaker, based on the resource allocations for the 2025 fiscal year, the total appropriation for the year       ending         31st   December    2025 is

GH¢290,971,212,435”, he added.

Below are some allocations to Various Sectors or Programmes in the 2025 budget:

 

  1. GH¢13.85 billion: Allocation for the Big Push Programme.

 

  1. GH¢499.8 million: Allocation for the No-Academic-Fee policy for first-year students in public tertiary institutions.

 

  1. GH¢292.4 million: Allocation for the distribution of free sanitary pads to female students in primary and secondary schools.

 

  1. GH¢242.5 million: Allocation to support victims of the Akosombo dam spillage.

 

  1. GH¢200 million: Allocation to support victims of the tidal wave disaster in the Ketu South constituency.

 

  1. GH¢3.5 billion: Allocation for the free secondary education program.

 

  1. GH¢564.6 million: Allocation for comprehensive provision of free curricula-based textbooks.

 

  1. GH¢1.788 billion: Allocation for the School Feeding Programme.

 

  1. GH¢145.5 million: Allocation for the Capitation Grant.

 

  1. GH¢203 million: Allocation for the payment of teacher trainee allowances.

 

  1. GH¢480 million: Allocation for the payment of nursing trainee allowances.

 

  1. GH¢9.93 billion: Allocation for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

 

  1. GH¢2.81 billion: Allocation for the Ghana Road Fund.

 

  1. GH¢7.51 billion: Allocation for the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).

 

  1. GH¢1.5 billion: Allocation for Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda (AETA).

 

  1. GH¢51.3 million: Allocation as seed fund for the establishment of the Women’s Development Bank.

 

  1. GH¢300 million: Allocation for the National Apprenticeship Programme.

 

  1. GH¢100 million: Allocation for the ‘Adwumawura’ Programme.
