The workshop aimed at equipping Members of Parliament with a deeper understanding of the 2025 national budget and its implications for their constituencies commenced on Saturday, 15th March, 2025 in the Chamber of Parliament with all MPs in attendance ahead of debate.

The workshop, which is being held at the Parliament is under five thematic areas: Contextual Overview of the 2025 Budget – Macro Economic, Fiscal Environment and the IMF Programme; Public Sector Debt Management and the 2025 Budget; Policy Objectives and Targets for the 2025 Budget; How to Analyze and Critique the 2025 Sector Estimates, and Taxation and Revenue Mobilization Strategies in the 2025 Budget.

The speaker said, “it is in the light of this, that we have gathered a team of distinguished and knowledgeable experts to assist in a thorough engagement with the 2025 budget, with a particular focus on key areas deemed essential for a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the budget.

MPs are expected to gain insights into budget analysis, fiscal policies, and the role of Parliament in ensuring financial accountability and transparency. The Speaker highlighted the importance of MPs being well-versed in budgetary matters to advocate effectively for the needs of their constituents and to contribute to national development.
