In addition, Speaker Asiamah Amoako ordered the Joint Committees to make recommendations on how to curb the fire outbreaks at the marketplaces and present their report within the first week of the second meeting of Parliament.

The Second Deputy Speaker made this referral after the Member of Parliament for Subin Kofi Obiri Yeboah made a statement on the devastating fire outbreaks at Adum, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on the floor of the House.

In a statement read in the chamber on Monday, Kofi Obiri Yeboah expressed concerns over the high rate of fire incidents and the devastating impact on businesses. He emphasized that urgent and drastic steps must be taken to mitigate the risks and prevent further destruction.

The MP made the statement in reference to a tragic fire outbreak recently at Adum and also at Magazine, destroying parts of the industrial hub and leaving many spare parts dealers and artisans with heavy losses.

The fire outbreaks have raised alarm across the country, underscoring the need for enhanced infrastructure and better policies to safeguard the livelihoods of traders in local markets.
