ACE holds media dialogue on innovative, strategic policies for quality education

The African Center of Excellence (ACE) Project has organized a press briefing on the African Higher Education Center of Excellence program.

The event brought together key stakeholders from regulatory bodies, heads and representatives of tertiary education institutions, policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders.
The press briefing was held at the AAU Secretariat conference hall on March 27, 2025, and featured a robust lineup of distinguished speakers addressing critical topics on Curriculum Development, Pedagogy, Internationalization, Research Development, as well as Regulation in Tertiary Education.

The press briefing also unveiled the 10th anniversary of the ACE project, with leaders from various ACE Centers showcasing their significant achievements over the past decade.
Secretary-Generaleralthe of the African Universities, Professor Olusola Oyewole in his welcome address said they serve as a vital platform for dialogue and collaboration, which is aimed at paving the way for innovative solutions and strategic policies enhancing  the quality and impact of tertiary education in Ghana.

He added that the press briefing reiterates the commitment of  to fostering an inclusive and progressive educational environment that meets the evolving needs of students and the nation.

Dr. Sylvia Mkanda, wire senior program manager Ger Impacts, acts spoke on the overview of the ACE pro, gram the, and ACE@10 milestone one, highlighted the significant innovations introduced in the pre-tertiary education sector, particularly in curriculum development and the modernization of tertiary institutions.
Dr. Mkandawire emphasized the necessity for tertiary education institutions to embrace and integrate these innovations into their own curricula. She underscored the importance of preparing for the next generation of students, ensuring they benefit from the advancements being made in the pre-tertiary education landscape research.
Other notable figures who were present included Professor Eric Antwi OfoCenternter, Dire of the RegioCenternter Energy Energy Environmentment Sustainability (RCEES), university of Energy Natural Resources. Professor Felix Abagale, Center Director of West AfrCenternter the water irrigation sustainable agriculture (WACWIUniversitysity Development Studies.
Speakers and Researchers who delivered a red presentation on GTEC’s role in advancGhana’shana Education Development agenda through the ugh ACE program included Dr. Edmond Alangong, Deputy Department poliPolicy Planning Directorate national focal point, wWorld BankAfrica Center of Excellency Project (impactpact) and Dr Felix Ansah ( alumni)Delta Postdoc, wAfricarica center for cell biology of infectious pathogens highlighted key achievement and Impact stories.

Director ICT, Knowledge management and commuication services AAU Ms. Nodumo Dhlamini who read the closing remarks ,call on the media to play a stronger role in producing data and research that is focused on solving Africa’s problems and on envisioning a future of accomplishment on the Africa higher education center of excellence (ACE ) programs.
