Government Committed to Completing University of Engineering and Agricultural Science— Deputy Finance Minister Assures

Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has given the strongest indication yet that government will prioritise the completion of the University of Engineering and Agricultural Science at Bunso in the Eastern Region.

Speaking during a meeting with the Korean Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Kyongsig Park, Mr. Nyarko acknowledged the economic challenges the country has faced in recent years but emphasised government’s determination to turn the situation around through bold policy measures outlined in the national budget.

He expressed gratitude to the Korean government for its continued support and cooperation, particularly in the areas of education and agriculture.

The Deputy Minister noted that while government is constrained in terms of resources and cannot complete every ongoing project, the university project remains a priority.

“We recognise the importance of this institution to our national development agenda, and even though we are in a tight space, government will do all it can to ensure its completion,” Mr. Nyarko assured.

The Korean Ambassador, for his part, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting educational and agricultural initiatives in Ghana.

Ambassador Park underscored that Korea’s own development was driven largely by investment in human capital and expressed hope that Ghana would follow a similar path.

He also highlighted ongoing collaborations in modernising irrigation systems and expressed optimism that outstanding financial obligations would be resolved soon to pave the way for deeper cooperation.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong bilateral relations between Ghana and Korea, with both parties pledging to work closely in areas of mutual interest.
