The Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Samson Ahi, paid a working visit to the industrial processing facilities of Recyclers Ghana Ltd., located in Shai Hills in the Shai-Osudoku District. The visit formed part of the Ministry’s broader agenda to engage with key players in the industrial and export sectors, explore avenues for support, and assess challenges within the manufacturing and recycling landscape.

The manager of the company, Mr.Manesh Kumar Jangir provided a comprehensive briefing on the company’s operations, growth trajectory, and contributions to Ghana’s industrialization efforts since its establishment in 2019.

Mr. Manesh highlighted the company’s export-oriented approach, supplying refined lead, plastic chips, granules, and customized aluminium alloy products to international clients across Europe, Turkey, Asia, and the United States.

In addition, the company currently exports bespoke aluminium alloys to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), including Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan. With a recycling capacity now exceeding 28,000 metric tonnes, the company plays a significant role in the value-added export chain and foreign exchange generation for Ghana.

During the briefing, the plant manager expressed several operational challenges faced by the company. Key among them was the limited access to scrap aluminium due to intense competition from exporters of raw scrap metal. This challenge has affected the ability of the plant to operate at full capacity and meet growing demand.

Mr. Manesh however, appealed for policy support and intervention to help local recyclers secure a steady supply of raw materials.

Hon, Sampson Ahi Hon. Ahi commended the management for their commitment to sustainable industrial practices and the circular economy after touring the plant’s major processing units, which include lead, plastic, and aluminium recycling lines. He was shown samples of raw inputs as well as finished products ready for export.

He noted the critical role companies like Recyclers Ghana Ltd. play in job creation and economic stability. He emphasized that the plant’s expansion could further provide employment for the Ghanaian youth and serve as a buffer against the rising trend of youth emigration. He also acknowledged the company’s contribution to generating foreign exchange, which supports efforts to stabilize the cedi.

Concluding the visit, Hon. Ahi participated in a symbolic tree planting exercise on the premises of the factory; a gesture aligning with the government’s national tree planting and climate sustainability initiative. The management expressed their appreciation for the Minister’s visit, describing it as a strong signal of the government’s willingness to work hand-in-hand with industry players.
