The project involves the construction of an 8-kilometer stretch of coastal defense and supporting facilities, including a fish market and cold store. The contractor, Messrs Amandi Holding Limited, has begun work on the site, bringing hope and relief to affected communities.

Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, and Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Kenneth Adjel, visited the site to engage with chiefs, community members, and local leaders. The ministers assured the communities that the government is committed to delivering on its promises and will see the project through to completion.

The Blekusu Sea Defense Project will not only protect lives and property but also support the local economy by providing infrastructure for the fishing industry. The project is expected to bring relief to communities that have been severely affected by coastal erosion.

The commencement of the project is a testament to the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by coastal communities in the Volta Region. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of residents and contribute to the region’s economic development.

This is a listening government. This a good step to right direction. Our people will be free from sea erosion and those that lost their properties, I believe the government will do something about it for them. Well Done JDM Well Done NDC.

The sea needs to be dredged and sand recovered from the dredging used to fill the coastal area to replace the land that was eroded earlier and then the sea defence wall erected with granite rocks.
