The Accra Regional Police Command has assured residents of Ablekuma North and the general public of robust security arrangements ahead of the parliamentary re-run election scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025.
In an official press release signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, the Police stated their readiness to ensure peace, law, and order before, during, and after the electoral process.
The Electoral Commission has designated nineteen (19) polling stations within the constituency where the re-run is taking place.
According to the Police, adequate personnel are deployed across all polling stations to ensure the smooth conduct of the election.
Beyond providing security at the polling centres, the Police Command also revealed plans to manage traffic flow and movement in and around the voting areas.
“Strategic barriers will be mounted to prevent unauthorised access to polling centres,” the statement added.
The Command further appealed to residents, voters, and political stakeholders to cooperate fully with security officers and adhere strictly to all electoral regulations.
They also encouraged the public to play an active role in maintaining peace by reporting any suspicious activities or individuals through emergency lines 18555 or 192.
“The Accra Regional Police Command wishes to assure the public of its preparedness,” the release emphasised, urging all citizens to help create a safe and orderly environment for the re-run.
The re-run follows a directive by the Electoral Commission after the annulment of results in 19 polling stations due to irregularities identified during the initial vote.
The outcome of Friday’s election is expected to determine the parliamentary representation for the Ablekuma North Constituency.
