Sométutuza, also known as the Somé Festival, is an annual celebration of the Chiefs and People of the Some Traditional Area in Ketu South, Volta Region. It was instituted in 1976 during the reign of Torgbiga Hor II, then Paramount Chief of the Somé Traditional Area. Sométutuza commemorates the migration of our forefathers to their present settlement in the 17th century.

The festival is celebrated on the last Saturday in September each year at the Somé Traditional Area’s capital, Agbozume. The People of Some Traditional areas are known as Soméawo

The celebration brings together hundreds of Soméawo, both at home and abroad, to celebrate the unique nature of the area as their cultural heritage.

In his address, Torgbui Adama III, the Paramount Chief (Fiaga) of the Somé Traditional Council

called on subjects all Chiefs under him to stand behind him to transform the Area with developmental projects because Somé is lagging when it comes to some social amenities.

Torgbui also charges parents and society to take the traditions seriously so that in the future of “our future children should not deviate from their culture”.

He again tasked the Central Planning Committee Members to plan this year’s festival well since this year’s festival coincides with 50 years after Sometutuza was instituted and his 10th anniversary as the Paramount Chief of Some’ Traditional Area.

Torgbiga called on the citizens at home and abroad to support this year’s festival physically and financially to make this year’s one a memorable one.

The launching was chaired by wonder Madilo, who released an initial Ghc15 000.00 to support the budget with a promise to give more before the grand durbar slated for 27th September, 2025, at Somé National School park, Agbozume.

Adding his voice, Mr. Madilo appeals to corporate Ghana and some citizens
