The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority on Thursday, August 21st 2025, welcomed a delegation from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), to the Port of Tema.
The visit, led by NPA’s Chief Executive Godwin Edudzi Tamaklo in the company of Abass Tasunti; Director for Economic Regulation & Planning at NPA, was to assess the readiness of the oil jetty for night-time operations.
This forms part of efforts to operationalize the 24-hour economy policy by ensuring round-the-clock receiving of petroleum vessels at the port.
The Director of Port – Tema, Tebon Zumah, who received the delegation, welcomed the initiative, noting that it is in line with national goals for economic transformation.
As part of the initiative, the NPA is collaborating with Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority to improve lighting infrastructure at the jetty for safe berthing and discharge of vessels at night.
All necessary works to see the realization of a 24 Hour economy in the Downstream Petroleum Industry regarding berthing and discharge are expected to be completed by September 2025, paving the way for full 24/7 operations at the oil jetty.
