The highly anticipated La Homowo Ny3 Awo Kpakpa Kpekple Cooking Competition organized by MP for the Area, Rita Naa Odoley Sowaha at La Mandjrano to climax the 2025 Homowo Festival has ended with Nmati Division emerged victorious.
This vibrant event promises to maintain the cooking of the traditional food for general as the cultural heritage for the people La and other Ga-Dangbe Groups in the Greater Accra Region brought together various quarters in La come to compete.

Kowe came second, Abese third, Dzrasee forth, Abafum firth and the rest are: Leshie, Klanaa, Agbawee and Sanshi and each received cooking group received cash, washing bowls and buckets with the winning group going to the Labadi Beach Hotel to enjoy breakfast, lunch and supper the for a day.
Participants from different localities demonstrated their expertise and skills in preparing the iconic Kpekple, a traditional Ghanaian dish that holds deep cultural significance during the Homowo festival in the national capital, Greater Accra.
According to the MP, “the competition not only aims to preserve and promote La’s rich culinary heritage but also fosters unity and healthy rivalry among the quarters”.

The event for the past three years has attracted hundreds of residents, families, and visitors who want to witness and celebrate La’s cultural vibrancy in the area.
The competition also offers a unique opportunity for community members to showcase their culinary talents and for spectators to enjoy the rich flavors and traditions that make Homowo a memorable festival.
The Member of Parliament, Rita Naa Odoley who could not hide her joy said, the celebration continues the spirit of togetherness and cultural pride as La is always ready to mark violence free Homowo.

The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and the Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, on her part applauded the citizens of La for coming out in their numbers to support the MP. She encouraged them to protect, promote and cherish “the beautiful cultural heritage” handed over to them.
She again admonished the Gas to equally promote their Language even at public events as she demonstrated it to their admiration by addressing the gathering in Ga Language
