The meeting served as an opportunity for the newly inaugurated Adoption Board members to reflect on the Authority’s mandate and set the tone for its work in regulating and supporting adoption services in Ghana. It also provided a platform to deliberate on strategies to strengthen and streamline adoption processes in the country.

In her welcome address, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, described the establishment of the Authority as a vital milestone in safeguarding children’s welfare. She stressed the need for a well-coordinated adoption system that offers vulnerable children the chance to grow up in safe and nurturing family environments.

The Board Chair and Chief Director of MoGCSP, Dr. Afisah Zakariah, presided over the meeting and encouraged members to work collectively to ensure that the Authority fulfils its mandate. She noted that the commitment of the Board would be key to building public trust and delivering on the goal of protecting every child’s best interest.

During the meeting, the Head of the Central Adoption Authority, Mr. Stephen Tikai Dombo, presented the Authority’s Workplan. His presentation outlined strategies to improve adoption procedures, strengthen monitoring mechanisms, and create a transparent system that prioritises the welfare of children.
