Member of Parliament for Salaga-South, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has pledged support to families affected by a fire outbreak that destroyed the home of Osman Harazimu in Salaga on Thursday, 18th September 2025.
The incident left residents devastated, with properties and livelihoods lost in the blaze.
During her visit to the affected households, the MP expressed sympathy and assured them of her commitment. “I am deeply saddened by the loss these families have suffered.
My heart goes out to you, and I will stand with you as you rebuild your lives,” she said.
The fire, which spread quickly, highlighted another challenge: the Municipal Fire Tender was not operational at the time of the emergency.
Hon. Zuwera noted that her office had released GHC 9,000 only a month earlier for its servicing and maintenance. “It is very disappointing to hear that it was not available when the community needed it most,” she remarked, promising to personally ensure its repair and readiness for future emergencies.
She further promised to provide GHC 5,000 in cash support, along with 100 bags of cement and 10 trips of sand, to help victims rebuild their homes. Residents welcomed her assurance, describing it as a source of hope in the face of hardship.
The MP’s pledge has also revived discussion on the state of emergency preparedness in Salaga-South. Many believe her intervention could serve as a turning point in strengthening safety systems, provided the commitments translate into swift action on the ground.
