The NDC Polling Agents Network (PAN-NDC), Yapei/Kusawgu branch, has petitioned their Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Abdulai John Jinapor, who is also the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, over jobs promised to polling agents.
The petition was presented on September 19 at the MP’s residence in Buipe during his visit for the 17th Damba Festival of His Royal Highness Jinapor II. The team was led by Imoro Mohammed Ghali, Constituency Representative of PAN-NDC. Other members present were Sachibu Abdul Kadir, Amisu Shamsu-Deen, and Fuseini Latif.
The petition follows earlier meetings with the District Chief Executive and constituency executives. At the heart of the demand is the issue of jobs in the public sector, which polling agents say were promised before the 2024 elections.
Hon. Dr. Jinapor told the delegation that he would study the petition and respond later. The constituency leadership of PAN-NDC also assured members that they would share any update that comes.
Some members did not hide their frustration. They argued that polling agents sacrificed their time and strength to help the party during the elections and that it was now time for the party to honor its word. One member put it simply, “We have worked hard. It’s time to reward us.”
The petition has raised wider concerns about how the party manages its relationship with the grassroots. For many polling agents, the issue goes beyond employment. It is also about recognition and fairness. How the leadership responds will go a long way to shape trust and future commitment from the very people who defend the party at the polling stations.
