A new initiative aimed at deepening community involvement in local development is set to take centre stage in Ashaiman as the Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Ernest Henry Norgbey, prepares to host a broad-based dialogue session with residents. The engagement, which forms part of the theme “Collaboration for Growth; The MP and Beautiful Ashaiman,” seeks to encourage open conversation between leadership and the people, to promote shared responsibility in the constituency’s development.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 15th October 2025, at the St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Ashaiman Roman Down, beginning at 9:00 a.m. It is part of a broader initiative known as “Resetting Ghana; Ashaiman in Focus.”
Ashaiman, one of Ghana’s rapidly expanding urban centres, has rebuilt itself as a community of peace and continues to make steady progress in development. Over the years, the area has grown in population and economic activity, even as it faces challenges with sanitation, infrastructure, and employment. The dialogue will provide a platform for residents to engage directly with their MP on these and other development concerns, while exploring ways to strengthen collaboration for progress.
A wide range of groups and institutions including artisanal associations, labour unions, traditional authorities, market leadership, business groups, the Jericho Irrigation Project, the United Private Schools Teachers Association of Ghana (UPSTAG), educational heads, and public sector representatives are expected to take part in the open discussion alongside the MP and his team.
Since assuming office, Dr. Norgbey has been at the forefront of several initiatives aimed at improving living standards in Ashaiman. His efforts have included support for school rehabilitation projects, educational scholarships for underprivileged students, advocacy for improved road networks, and active involvement in community-based programmes. His practical approach to leadership and consistent engagement with constituents have earned him recognition as one of the most accessible representatives in the region.
Local leaders and residents have described the forthcoming dialogue as both timely and necessary, saying it provides an opportunity for a frank exchange of ideas about Ashaiman’s future.
Ultimately, the initiative aims to bring the people closer to the issues and interests of Ashaiman, fostering a collective development agenda rooted in shared vision and community participation.
