Ghana has officially launched the 2025 Super Volleyball Championship, a premier regional tournament set to elevate the sport’s profile in West Africa. The launch event took place in Accra, where the Chief Director, Wilhelmina Asamoah on behalf of the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams underscored the tournament’s significance for youth development, regional integration, and sporting excellence.
She emphasized that the Super Volleyball Championship-2025 is Ghana’s most vibrant volleyball event and a key platform for nurturing talent and fostering regional collaboration.
The event, scheduled for November 16th to 23rd at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, will feature 16 elite clubs from Ghana, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, and Benin, attracting over 1,000 attendees.
Since its inception in 2021, the tournament has grown from a grassroots initiative into a nationally recognized platform supported by the National Sports Authority and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.
This year marks the fourth edition, organized by Kratos SE in partnership with the Ghana Volleyball Federation, and aims to position Ghana as a hub for high-performance volleyball in West Africa.
The launch highlighted the tournament’s broader objectives: to elevate volleyball as a top-tier sport, create career opportunities for athletes, coaches, and referees, and strengthen regional ties through cross-border participation. It also serves as a catalyst for youth engagement, character building, and leadership development among young Ghanaians.
A key future focus discussed was the upcoming National Sports Fund legislation, which promises to provide sustainable financial support for sports development across Ghana. Once enacted, it is expected to generate revenue that will benefit sports federations and grassroots initiatives alike.
As the tournament approaches, organizers and officials expressed their optimism that SVC 2025 will set new standards for regional volleyball and inspire a new generation of athletes.
The event aims to be a stepping stone toward making Ghana and West Africa leaders in volleyball and sports-driven development.
