Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) Ltd. received one of Ghana’s illustrious sons, Bernard Mornah, the current leader of the People’s National Convention (PNC). Mr. Mornah is widely recognized as a committed Pan-Africanist, a socialist, and a strong believer in the vision and philosophies of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first Prime Minister and President on Thursday, 27th November 2025.

Mr. Mornah’s visit stemmed from his longstanding interest in Africa’s development and Ghana’s capacity to manage its own strategic national assets. In that spirit, he undertook the visit to personally acquaint himself with the reality on the ground rather than rely solely on media reports about the significant maintenance activities ongoing at TOR in preparation for the resumption of operations.

In his remarks, he recounted moments in Ghana’s history where successive governments made attempts to privatize or sell the refinery—efforts he has consistently opposed. “I remain a strong voice against that, and I believe it is possible for us to do this ourselves,” he stated firmly.

Mr. Mornah was visibly impressed by the scale and pace of work. Overwhelmed by what he witnessed, he exclaimed, “I can’t believe what I am seeing—woooow.” At a point, he was lost for words, expressing profound admiration for the progress made.

He noted that even though he is not an engineer, the quality of work, commitment, and determination were clear indicators of a dedicated team. He emphasized that “it is about leadership, and with the right leaders at the helm of affairs, Ghana will progress.” The PNC leader, a Pan-Africanist, socialist, and staunch advocate of Nkrumah’s ideology, extended his gratitude to the Managing Director of TOR, Mr. Edmond Kombat, for the remarkable progress made toward reviving Nkrumah’s refinery. He acknowledged both the economic and social impact the refinery’s revival would bring to the nation.
Following a tour of the facility and a closed-door meeting, Mr. Mornah reiterated the importance of seeing the progress firsthand. The MD, in turn, expressed appreciation for his visit and encouraged him to continue championing Ghana’s development and upholding Nkrumahist principles.

The MD of TOR continues to invite stakeholders to undertake industrial visits and familiarize themselves with Ghana’s premier refinery, as the facility steadily prepares to resume full operations.
