The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled Tuesday, December 30, 2025, for the rerun of the parliamentary election in the Kpandai Constituency following a court order and formal notification from Parliament.
In a press release dated December 10, 2025, the EC said the decision followed a ruling by the Tamale High Court on November 24, 2025, ordering a rerun of the Kpandai Constituency Parliamentary Election within 30 days. The Commission was subsequently notified by the Clerk to Parliament on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, that the seat had become vacant.
“As a result of the court ruling and the declaration of vacancy in Parliament, the Commission will conduct a rerun of the Parliamentary Election in the Kpandai Constituency on Tuesday, 30th December, 2025,” the EC stated.
According to the Commission, the rerun election will be contested only by the three candidates who participated in the 2024 Parliamentary Election in the constituency.
The EC assured the public of its readiness to conduct the election in a transparent, fair, and peaceful manner, in line with Ghana’s electoral laws and democratic principles.
The statement was signed by Mr. Fred Tetteh, Deputy Director in charge of Research, Monitoring and Evaluation at the Electoral Commission.
The Kpandai election rerun has generated significant political interest, with political stakeholders closely monitoring developments following the court’s decision and Parliament’s declaration of vacancy.
