The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, visited Bukom on the first day of a three-day free NHIS registration exercise.
The exercise runs from Monday, 29th to Wednesday, 31st December 2025, at the Bukom Astro Turf.
It is organized in collaboration with the Ga Mantse Foundation and aims to register residents of Bukom onto the NHIS at no cost.
The initiative is part of NHIA’s efforts to expand access to healthcare in densely populated urban areas.
Many residents visited the registration centre on the first day to benefit from the free registration. NHIS-branded souvenirs were also handed out to clients to promote awareness of the Scheme.
Officers from the Ashiedu Keteke and Osu Klottey District Offices are on hand to ensure smooth registration and provide support throughout the exercise.
Dr. Bampoe was warmly received by staff and community members. He praised the officers for their dedication and willingness to work during the holiday period.
He said their efforts are vital to achieving universal health coverage.
Staff thanked the CEO for his leadership, commitment to staff welfare, and ongoing reforms to strengthen the NHIS.
Also present at the registration were the Acting Greater Accra Regional Director, Mr. Samuel Sowah Oblejumah, and the Acting Regional Operations Manager, Mr. Osman Iddrisu Banpuori.
Their presence showed management’s support for frontline service and community outreach.
