Ghana’s Ninth Parliament will officially resume sittings for its Second Session at noon on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

The announcement was contained in the release of a constitutional instrument dated January 20, 2026 by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin in Accra.
The commencement Instrument which was issued in accordance with Article 112(1) of the 1992 Constitution, empowers the Speaker to appoint the time and place for sittings of Parliament.
It formally brings to an end the recess following the First Session and clears the way for the resumption of legislative business, including the consideration of government bills, committee work, and matters of national importance.
The Second Session is expected to be marked by heightened legislative activity, as the House considers key policy proposals and oversight responsibilities central to the government’s agenda and the broader governance of the country.
Parliamentary leadership and members are anticipated to outline priorities for the new session once proceedings officially commence next month.
