On this special occasion, fmnewsonline.com joins the nation in celebrating an extraordinary leader and dedicated public servant, Rachel Amma Owusuah, as she marks her 70th birthday. Over the years, Madam Owusuah has been a beacon of resilience, compassion, and unwavering commitment to her community, inspiring many and leaving a lasting impact on Ghana’s political landscape.
A Life of Service and Leadership

Born on February 4, 1956, Madam Rachel Owusuah is an accomplished professional and politician. She attended Holy Family Nurses and Midwives Training College in Berekum, completing her certification in 1992. Before venturing into parliamentary politics, she served as the CEO of Rachel Health Centre and A5 Farms, demonstrating her dedication to community health and development.

Currently, she represents the people of Dormaa East in Ghana’s Parliament on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). She is a member of the Majority side, serving on the Committee of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, as well as the Committee of Selection — roles that underscore her influence and commitment to social issues affecting women, children, and vulnerable groups.

A Voice for Women and Youth

Madam Owusuah’s contributions extend beyond her legislative duties. She is known for her passionate advocacy on issues affecting women, children, and society at large. On July 1, 2025, she delivered a compelling statement on the floor of Parliament in commemoration of International Women’s Day, under the theme “Accelerate Action.”

In her speech, she paid homage to the contributions of women in caregiving roles, referencing historical figures such as Florence Nightingale and biblical midwives Shiphrah and Puah. She urged women in Dormaa East, especially farmers and single mothers, to continue their vital work in feeding and caring for families, emphasizing the importance of government and community support.

Madam Owusuah also highlighted the importance of empowering women and girls, advocating for continued support for maternal health, education, and economic opportunities. Her words resonated deeply with many, as she called for collective efforts to support women’s vital role in society.

Addressing Critical Issues: Teen Pregnancy and Reproductive Health

In another powerful speech delivered on July 18, 2025, Madam Owusuah addressed the serious issue of teenage pregnancy in Ghana. She outlined the health risks faced by young mothers, the social stigma, and the economic challenges that result from early pregnancy.

She emphasized the need for a collaborative approach involving government agencies, NGOs, traditional leaders, and families to combat the rising trend of teenage pregnancy. Her proposals included improving access to family planning services, reproductive health education, and providing sanitary pads to keep girls in school.

“Creating safe spaces for young girls to learn and share, coupled with skills training, will help break the cycle of teenage pregnancy,” she stated. Madam Owusuah called for targeted interventions that empower girls with knowledge, support, and opportunities to build brighter futures.

A Legacy of Dedication

As she celebrates her 70th birthday, the nation not only honors her personal milestone but also recognizes her unwavering dedication, leadership, and service to the people of Dormaa East. Her contributions have touched countless lives and continue to inspire a new generation of leaders.

On this special occasion, fmnewsonline.com extends heartfelt wishes for good health, happiness, and continued success. May Madam Rachel Amma Owusuah’s legacy of service and compassion continue to shine brightly for many years to come.
Happy 70th birthday, Rachel Amma Owusuah — a true servant leader and an inspiration to us all.
