The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama commissioned one (1) High Commissioner and four (4) Ambassadors-designate on 9th February, 2026 at the Jubilee House to represent Ghana abroad in line with Article 74 (1) of the Constitution. In accordance with established practice, the Envoys took the Oaths of Allegiance, Office and Secrecy.
The Envoys commissioned were:
- Alhaji Said Saleh Sinare – Ambassador-designate to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia;
- Lt. Col. Al Hajj Umar Sanda Ahmed – Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Mali;
iii. Mr. Kofi Attor – Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Cuba;
- Mr. Emmanuel Opeku – Ambassador-in-situ; and
- Mrs. Regina Appiah-Sam – High Commissioner-designate to the Republic of Malta
In his address, the President highlighted the changes in the international system, driven by geopolitical tensions, economic realignments, technological disruptions and climate pressures and urged the Envoys to be guided by the national interest of Ghana to make an impact to national growth through diplomacy. He emphasised that the Key Performance Indicators for Heads of Mission is a strategic tool to advance growth. He tasked the Envoys to actively promote tourism, facilitate innovation, attract strategic investments and uphold accountability in all their engagements, ensuring that their work produces tangible results for the nation, including job creation, trade expansion, investment opportunities and sustainable partnerships.
On behalf of the Envoys, the Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Mali, Lt. Col. Al Hajj Umar Sanda Ahmed expressed gratitude to the President for the confidence reposed in them. He assured that the Envoys would serve with patriotism, diligence and commitment in the discharge of their mandate to reflect positively on the reputation of Ghana.

Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable James Gyakye Quayson (MP) and other senior Government officials.
