The President of the Republic of Ghana has appointed Adwoa Serwaa Bondzie as the new Acting Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission. The appointment, effective immediately, marks a pivotal moment for the country’s energy sector amid ongoing reforms and modernization efforts.

Ms. Bondzie, who previously served as the Acting Deputy Managing Director of Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation Limited (BOST), brings extensive experience in downstream energy management to her new role. Her expertise is expected to play a crucial part in steering the Energy Commission through a period of critical transition.

The formal announcement of her appointment was communicated to the management and staff of the Energy Commission by the Board Secretary on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Following the directive, Ms. Bondzie has officially assumed her responsibilities as Acting Executive Secretary, stepping into the role at a time when the sector is undergoing substantial reforms.

The Board, management, and staff have reportedly expressed a warm reception to her appointment. Her leadership coincides with an intensive phase of administrative and regulatory reforms aimed at modernizing the operations of the Energy Commission.

Sources within the Commission indicate that the current Board has been actively providing oversight to ensure that the reforms focus on:

Streamlining policies to align with international energy standards.

Promoting transparency in both internal processes and external dealings.

Strengthening the technical and professional capacity of the Commission’s workforce.

With her rich operational background from BOST, Ms. Bondzie is expected to bring valuable insights to the Energy Commission. Her leadership will be instrumental as Ghana navigates the complexities of an evolving energy landscape, balancing traditional power regulation with the urgent shift toward sustainable and renewable energy sources.
