As part of its momentous anniversary celebration, Abor Senior High School (ABORSCO) took a momentous journey to the Parliament of Ghana Wednesday 12th February, 2026, embodying its rich history and bright future.

The visit, held on the eve of the school’s 60th anniversary, highlights the institution’s commitment to fostering impactful education rooted in indigenous values and 21st-century skills.

A Journey Through Time

Founded six decades ago, Abor Senior High School has grown from modest beginnings into a beacon of quality secondary education in the Volta Region. Its journey over the years has been marked by resilience, community support, and a steadfast dedication to nurturing young minds.

The school’s rich history is woven into the fabric of Ghana’s educational development, producing generations of leaders, professionals, and change-makers.

Celebrating 60 Years of Impact

The anniversary theme, “60 Years of Impactful Journey: Providing Transformative Secondary Education through Indigenous Values and 21st Century Skills,” reflects the school’s dual commitment to preserving Ghanaian cultural heritage while equipping students with modern competencies.

The celebration aims to highlight the school’s innovative approaches to education, blending traditional values with contemporary skills such as critical thinking, digital literacy, and creativity.

A Symbolic Visit to Parliament

The visit to Parliament was a highlight of the anniversary activities, symbolizing the school’s role in nation-building. Students, teachers, alumni, and school administrators engaged with lawmakers and policymakers, fostering a dialogue about education’s role in national development.

The delegation led by the head master, Rev. Kwesi Agbeyome with from the President of ASSOSA Raphael Edem Korbla Yawlui was received warmly by  MP for the Area-Keta, Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey,  The 1st Deputy Speaker of Parliament, who is also the Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, an Old student, MP for Ketu North, Edem Agbana and other Members of Parliament, who praised the school’s contribution to Ghana’s educational landscape by producing the current 1st Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

Present Endeavors and Future Aspirations

Currently, Abor Senior High School is undertaking numerous initiatives to enhance its academic and extracurricular offerings. These include upgrading facilities, integrating ICT into the curriculum, and strengthening STEM programs. The school’s leadership envisions expanding access to quality education while maintaining its indigenous identity.

Looking ahead, ABORSCO aspires to become a model of holistic education that produces responsible citizens who can thrive in a dynamic global environment.

The school’s future plans include partnerships with development agencies, increased community engagement, and the continuous training of teachers to meet modern pedagogical standards.
