The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu has joined the management, alumni and students of Abor Senior High School (ABORSCO) for their 60th Anniversary Grand Durbar in Abor, on 21st February 2026.
Before the commencement of the programme, The Team lead by Regional Minister inspected the ongoing three-storey project comprising nine (9) two-bedroom staff bungalow, which will significantly improve accommodation for teachers and strengthen academic delivery.
On behalf of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, the Minister congratulated the school for six decades of excellence in discipline, leadership and character formation.
He reaffirmed government’s commitment to modernising educational infrastructure, expanding STEM and technical training, and aligning education with the 24-Hour Economy to create sustainable opportunities for our youth.
The Minister encouraged students to embrace innovation while upholding integrity and our cherished indigenous values, and called on alumni to continue supporting their alma mater as it lives its motto, “Arise and Shine.”
On behalf of John Dramani Mahama, the Minister made a donation of 50,000 cedis and 200 bags of cement towards the construction of a staff bungalow for the school.
Mr. Gunu was pleased to be joined by Bernard Ahiafor, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and MP for Akatsi South; Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, MP for Keta; Elvis Afriyie Ankrah; John Dumelo, Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture and MP for Ayawaso West; MDCEs; the Volta Regional Director of Education; Traditional Authorities; Religious Leaders; and distinguished guests.
ABORSCO has indeed arisen and continues to shine, he added.
