President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Minister of Finance to allocate GH¢1 billion in the 2027 Budget as government’s contribution to a GH¢3 billion revolving National Housing Fund.
The President gave the directive while speaking at the maiden National Conference on Housing Finance in Accra.
According to President Mahama, the fund will support affordable housing projects and expand access to housing finance for Ghanaians.
He also announced the proposed Easy Rent programme, which will enable workers to access rent advances and repay them monthly.
The initiative is aimed at easing the burden of huge rent advance payments on Ghanaian workers and families.
President Mahama further called for innovative financing solutions to help complete the many unfinished houses dotted across the country, stressing that access to decent housing must remain a national priority.
“Every family deserves the security of a decent home. That ambition must guide our policies, shape our investments, and drive our work,” he stated.
The National Housing Fund, when fully operational, is expected to unlock private sector investment and provide long-term, affordable financing to accelerate housing delivery in Ghana.
