The Presidential Envoy in charge of interfaith and ecumenical bodies, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has urged the management of Abor Senior High School and other Stakeholders in tbe Educational Sector to combine academic excellence with moral formation and digital competence.

According to him education has evolved beyond textbooks and classrooms, with digital skills now determining employability as he noticed that “social media shapes public influence and drives innovation, making global competition real”.

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah who delivered the speech on behalf of Chief of Staff, Julia Debrah, at Abor Senior High School’s (ABORSCO) 60th-anniversary celebrations on 21st February, 2026 at School Campus.

Speaking on the themed “Providing Transformative Secondary Education through Indigenous Values and 21st Century Skills,” Mr. Ankrah emphasized the need to prepare the students for the future in a digital age.

He challenged Abor students to compete globally, not just in exams, but in ideas, creativity, and digital competence.

He stressed that schools must teach digital literacy, responsible social media engagement, online professionalism, innovation, content creation, and critical thinking to make students creators, not just consumers.

Mr. Ankrah also highlighted blending technology with indigenous Ghanaian values like respect, humility, integrity, and community responsibility to produce digitally skilled, responsible citizens

He however, urged Abor Senior High School and the government to combine academic excellence with moral formation and digital competence, ensuring students evolve with both character and skills for the 21st century.

On his part, Bernard Ahiafor the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and MP for Akatsi South in sharing his personal journey and inspiring current students revealed that although he didn’t attend his first-choice school, ABORSCO became a defining experience, shaping his character, outlook, and career.

Ahiafor recounted the school’s challenging past, with poor facilities, palm-branch-roofed buildings, and limited graduate teachers, “despite hardships, the school provided a solid foundation, teaching perseverance and growth.

He praised ABORSCO’s progress, highlighting improved classrooms, hostels, and a stronger presence of graduate teachers, including PhD holders.

The First Deputy Speaker urged current students to appreciate their improved learning environment and seize opportunities.
