The National Identification Authority (NIA) issued a press release titled “FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE” to set the record straight about the Ghana Card. In the statement, the NIA explained that the Ghana Card has *not* been activated for financial transactions, debunking recent rumors and media reports suggesting otherwise.

Press Statement from NIA

The authority warned the public to disregard any misleading claims circulating in the media or social platforms about using the Ghana Card for payments or banking. Citizens were instructed to rely *only* on official communications from the NIA for accurate information regarding the card’s usage.

The NIA emphasized its commitment to safeguarding the integrity and security of the National Identification System, urging everyone to wait for formal announcements before accepting any new functionalities of the Ghana Card.
