Following a needs assessment visit to ascertain the operational challenges of paediatric patients, the Ghana Export-Import Bank (GEXIM) has donated medical equipment and essential supplies valued at GH¢200,000 to the Child Health Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH).
The presentation, aimed primarily at strengthening care at the department’s Paediatric Oncology Unit, formed part of activities commemorating the bank’s 10th anniversary celebrations and Corporate Social Responsibility esponsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Items presented included patient monitors, blood pressure monitors, a vital signs monitor, defibrillators, oxygen cylinders, emergency stretchers, examination tables, IV pole stands, five fold ward screens, large kidney dishes, and disposable bed mats.

The Head of Sustainability at Ghana EXIM Bank, Dr. Abena N. Asomaning, stated that the intervention aligned with the bank’s commitment to enhancing quality healthcare delivery and making a positive impact on the health and well-being of children.
Prior to the presentation, the delegation toured the Emergency Unit, the Babies Unit, and the Paediatric Oncology Unit to familiarise themselves with operational challenges and assess critical infrastructure requirements.
In a swift response to an immediate medical emergency during the tour, the delegation provided GH¢2,000 to cover the urgent cost of blood required for a child undergoing treatment at the Emergency Unit.
Receiving the medical supplies on behalf of the department, Principal Nursing Officer (PNO) Lawrencia Turkson expressed gratitude to Ghana EXIM Bank for the generous gesture.
She also introduced the delegation to the department’s “100×100: It Starts With You” campaign an initiative targeting GH¢10 million by encouraging at least 100,000 individuals to contribute GH¢100 each to fund infrastructure upgrades, ward renovations, and financial aid for needy patients.
