The Apostolic Nunciature, Ghana has mourned passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.
“It is with profound sorrow that the Apostolic Nunciature in Ghana announces to the civil authorities, the Episcopal Conference, the clergy, the religious, and all the faithful in Ghana, that His Holiness Pope Francis, peacefully passed away on Monday, 21 April 2025, at 7:35 a.m., on the liturgical feast of Easter Monday, at the Vatican”.
Statent issued in Accra said the Holy Father devoted his entire pontificate to the service of the universal Church, promoting the Gospel of mercy, fraternity, and peace.
According to the release, His pastoral leadership, spiritual depth, and tireless commitment to the dignity of every human person have left an indelible mark on the life of the Church and on humanity.
The Apostolic Nunciature used the opportunity to invite all the Catholic faithful, people of goodwill, and members of other religious traditions in Ghana to join in prayer for the eternal repose of the soul of the late Pontiff, entrusting him to the loving embrace of the Risen Lord whom he served with humility and unwavering faith.
Further information concerning liturgical commemorations and acts of homage in Ghana will be communicated in due course.
In this moment of grief, the Apostolic Nunciature renews its expression of deep spiritual closeness and gratitude to the good people of Ghana, its highest Authorities, and particularly to the entire Catholic community, and avails itself of this opportunity to assure all of its highest consideration, they added.
